The Mammal Unit
Our mammal unit is within the Cattery Block which is situated towards the centre of the 6.5 acre site which the kennels cover. The outside of the cattery measures approximately 28ft x 50ft. (8.5M x 15M). The temperature in the whole building is kept at a comfortable heat. The whole of the unit is illuminated by both/either natural or artificial light. It houses 10 cats and 7 small mammal units.
Each unit has a window. We supply food and water bowls, litter tray, recreational items and a sleeping/nesting area that is raised off the ground. Our mammals are fed twice daily. A selection of food is available: dried, tinned or fresh, to customers requests. A constant supply of fresh drinking water is also supplied.

All residents are designated one kennel maid to look after them, so each animal receives as much personal attention as possible.
Animals are checked by our veterinary surgeon when they arrive. He is also contacted at any time when we deem an animal to be 'off colour'. However, our vet calls daily (except Sundays when he is on call), so any problems are quickly dealt with. Our vet also examines mammals on their release from, what we hope has been an enjoyable experience in the Dover and Folkestone Quarantine Kennels.
